The most important instructions in Christian bioethics...

If you have ever wondered about the most important principles in Christian bioethics today than you have to read two important instructions. One is Donum Vitae and second is Dignitas Personae. Let me give you a little overview. On February 22, 1987, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith published the Donum Vitae Instruction. According to the Donum Vitae Instruction of 1987, the principle of the holiness of life imposes respect for human persons from the very beginning of human life. Twenty years later, on February 22, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI asked for an update of this Instruction. In these past 20 years, new medical techniques have raised fresh ethical issues that are to be addressed by the Roman Catholic Church Magisterium. The Roman Catholic Church, in its update of the Instruction of 2007 affirm the substance of human justice: respect the dignity and the fundamental and inalienable rights of every human being, including those in the initial stages of their existence, and to state explicitly the need for protection and respect which this dignity requires of everyone.

Both instructions you may find and read here:
